League Match 5: Avondale (home) 31st May 2008
Great win for Halverstown against a characteristically fiesty
Avondale visiting team. Fantastic bowling by star home player
Daljit Singh who tore through the Avondale batting line-up in a
true match winning performance by getting seven wickets for only
17 runs.
Avondale scored 111 with their star batsman Al Bolton,
batting at four and scoring 31, was justifiably disconsolate
after being dismissed by a low skimming flyer from
Daljit. As a finishing touch to their fine overall bowling
performance, Halverstown got home to win with 3 wickets in hand.
George - Halverstown's talented all rounder - scored two
consecutive fours off Avondale's tricky swing bowler and last
seasons captain, Duncan Duke. Halverstown will need to load
their side with a good batting line up when they face Avondale
at Rathdrum on 12th July. This will be required to cope with
Avondale's Stanley family created immaculately true and
bouncy synthetic matt pitch.
